Breast Cancer Alliance
PRBCA of NH was founded by Lauren Caulfield, a breast cancer survivor, and her dear friend, Ronda Chrystal. After being diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2017, Lauren completed 12 months of chemotherapy and six weeks of radiation. In the wake of having her world turned upside down, Lauren relied heavily on her own support system to pull her through. While she was in chemotherapy, she met cancer patients who didn’t have a lot of support. Some were going to chemotherapy alone, skipping sessions because they didn’t have transportation, or couldn’t afford the cost of getting to treatments. On the last day of treatment, she vowed that she was going to find a way to better support cancer patients and look for the silver linings of her journey. Lauren and Ronda attended a Pink Revolution event in MA shortly thereafter, and on that day they decided to bring a similar approach to their home state of NH.
These ladies were inspired to make chemotherapy a better experience for cancer patients. They decided to make a list of items that could make chemotherapy treatments more bearable. They formed a committee made up of fellow cancer survivors and other warmhearted people that just wanted to give back.
After finding volunteers and donors, they started an annual Chemo Care Package event focused on helping cancer patients in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Vermont.
